With schools ending in a couple short months, now is a great time to start planning for the time your kids will be out of school. I have to admit, when I see headlines like “10 vacations to take before your kids turn 10” from USA Today I’m skeptical. Usually these types of articles are filled with advice that next to no one could actually do. Sure, wouldn’t we all love to visit Tahiti, but how many of us can realistically afford that? However, this article is very good in that their advice is something that I think many people could manage on a budget such as “A history vacation” and “Visit a National Park.” In fact, you may just be surprised at how close a historic site or national park is to your home if you haven’t taken the time to look.
Granted one of their vacations is “A place with a different alphabet” and that, for many including myself, isn’t in the budget. It does, however, bring to mind some things locally that would might help introduce my kid to different cultures and languages, even if it’s not as immersible as a 10 day Mediterranean cruise.

Happy Summer Vacation!
